Business Areas

We are one of the most competitive Main/EPC Contractor in the global market, carrying out desalination plants of high level quality with reverse osmosis, multi stage flash and MED technologies, water and waste water production, treatment and environment sustainability.
We combine expertise in technology, design and operation with innovative business models, offering a full range of solutions to meet the needs of cities, governments, businesses and industries.

Seawater desalination is one of the most promising ways to solve the water shortage, providing and maintaining clean and safe water for drinking, daily public use, industrial processes, sanitary uses, etc.

Experience and skills gained in over 40 years allows Fisia Italimpianti to identify the best solution among all the available desalination technologies, capable to fit the specific needs of different owners, always considering the geographical framework.

The Company’s portfolio ranges from thermal to membrane (RO) desalination technologies, where there is a consolidated experience as EPC/DB contractor both in the contexts of Turn-key and Independent Water and Power Project (IWPP).

Total desalination production achieved is more than 4,800,000 m3/d (1,055 MIGD), mostly delivered in the Middle East.

Fisia Italimpianti realizes the design and construction of several types of industrial plants for production of water for domestic as well as industrial use.

The portfolio includes Municipal and Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plants, Potable Water Treatment Plants, Remineralization Plants, Water Injection Plants and Aquariums.

Fisia Italimpianti, by its internal design team of engineers experienced in all fields of Water Treatment, is capable to offer engineered solutions targeted to:

  • optimize capital and operating costs
  • maximize the reliability and the life of the plant
  • reduce the environmental impact

In cooperation with Research Organizations and with the best Universities, the R&D department is studying new technologies for the improvement and the simplification of the water treatment processes.

Fisia Italimpianti operates in the design and realization of waste treatment plants and waste to energy plants since 1980.

Fisia Italimpianti’s experience ranges from design, build, commissioning and testing of plants to a specialized activity of operation and maintenance of the realized plants which are still in operation.

Specialized teams analyze and solve different problems occurred during plants life, such as materials corrosion, accidents investigation, equipment troubleshooting, performance optimization and improvements.

Due to the wide experience of our staff in process design, commissioning and testing of our plants achieved in the past, we can provide assistance and consultancy to operation and maintenance companies for:

  • Improving the performances and the reliability of existing plants
  • Optimizing operation procedures and reduce the operating costs
  • Analyzing incidents and propose solutions
  • Executing or supervise recommissioning and testing

We can also design and supply retrofitting solutions for existing plants and propose refurbishments of old plants to extend their design life: most of our earlier projects are still in operation successfully after 25-30 years from start-up.

Fisia Italimpianti, in the last years, has conceived, designed and patented a new type of thermal unit which allows the maximum possible exploitation of energy, either coming by solar radiation or from low enthalpy sources.

The use of renewable energy for desalination will reduce the cost of water, save oil and natural gas, and avoid CO2 emissions.

Fisia Italimpianti R&D department is constantly involved in projects and feasibility studies for desalination applied to:

  • Energy from Solar (thermal collectors and photovoltaic cells)
  • Energy from Geothermal sources
  • Energy from wind

Desalination by renewable energies constitutes one of the main century challenges for the future of the countries suffering water scarcity.

The importance of water for agricultural use cannot be overestimated, because it is this energy-intensive resource that drives food growth. Water not only is needed to grow crops, but is necessary to raise livestock for our meat products. There is a direct correlation between the amount of applied water in use within the agricultural sector and the amount of crops that is yield.

Large amounts of subsidies in the agricultural sector, along with efficiency issues have made the goal of improving output while reducing water use a greater challenge. Agriculture still remains the greatest consumption of our water resources and the reality of diminishing water sources is a problem that the world continues to ignore for the most part. For that reason, our solution in creating high quality water treatment systems that will generate high quantities of freshwater from unsuitable locations, such as the ocean, rivers, lakes, wells, etc. has made tremendous progress in alleviating the stress from many industries, most of all agriculture.
